| This intriguing name comes from one of the well-known protea family,
the protea arborea or 'waboom', wagon tree. Early settlers used the
wood for making wagon wheels and the bark for tanning. Ink was
apparently produced from the leaves.
The winery was establish in 1949 and has grow from 4 000 tons to 16 000 in 2008. The Co-op received grapes from 22 farms.
